Yen-po chen

Graduated from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at China Medical University, Yen-Po Chen is currently a licensed TCM doctor. He is self-taught in painting, and works across both the medical and artistic fields. Using pencil, ink, Eastern gouache, and oil pastel as his primary media, Chen explores the boundary between consciousness and the subconscious through his paintings, which summon the various personalities residing in the inner world to manifest within his art.

In his works, he often fuses opposing elements such as destruction and creation, pain and pleasure, transforming them into surreal events that overflow beyond the ordinary. The interactions between the characters embody the worldview of Yin-Yang generation and restraint in traditional Chinese medicine.
